| Light, stackable and very elastic multi-purpose chair. With its slight construction, the thin seat and back and only one steel tube holding the back, CAT is a very minimal chair both in its use of material and in its expression. The constructive minimizing as well as the low mounting point of the chair back make CAT a very resilient and flexible chair for the benefit of sitting comfort as well as strength. CAT is very useful for arrangement in rows, since the repetition of the marked back and circular mounting flange gives a strong "graphic" effect, while the plane, rectangular seat shape with the five straight seat slits visually unites the row. The thin, slitted seat also supplies a comfortable flexibility, adapts to the seated person and counteracts "sliding". The basis model of CAT was designed for the company Rumas by architect Troels Grum-Schwensen (MAA MDD) in 1995-97. 1998-99 a model with armrests in flexible, coloured PUR was added. The armrests make it possible to hang the chair on a table (for cleaning purposes) and gives the chair further sculptural qualities. See also CAT with armrests. |
