STACKING CHAIR WITH FLEXIBLE BACK
1993

Contact :
The chair consists of Ø16mm stainless steel tubes, massive stainless round bar steel and non-stretch fabric.
The thin, flexible round bar steel of the back is pre-tensed and keeps the fabric stretched out like a filled sail.
When in use, the chair back will flex and adapt to the user. The bar steel of the back is bent back and screw-fastened to the back cross-bar, which allows a simple mounting of the readily made back fabric. This is kept up by a sewn-in string with a knot fastened in a small slit in the upper end of the round bar steel.

The seat fabric is kept stretched by the "slightly too long" flexible double front cross-bar.

The small and very lightweight chair is surprisingly comfortable and gives associations to insects – their shine, elegance, supple strength and interesting colours.

Fabric design: Inger Mosholt Nielsen.

The chair has, a.o., been exhibited at SE 93 and the Museum of Decorative Art 1997.
