| The chair is designed with the need of a high chair for my daughter Amalie in mind. The idea was to create a child’s chair which is able to grow with the child until the age of 9 or 10 and in an architectonically calm and beautiful way complement good dining room furniture. This last characteristic is accomplished by the half-circular back and the horizontal upper edge, which continues the line of a table surface. The single- pillar construction makes the chair unique and gives a simple sculptural effect. Height adjustment is done quickly and easily without using tools. Even the safety guard for very small children can be added or removed without tools, since the flexibility of the top piece is used to hold it. Prototypes of the chair, made by E.O. Jönsson, were exhibited for the first time at SE 93 in Helligåndskirken, Copenhagen. |
